BIOGRAPHY
A little bit about me: I was born Keana Alexis Texeira on September 24, 1994. I'm the oldest of 5 children. My name---pronounced "KEE-YA-NA" came from Keanu Reeves whom I was named after. My mom saw "SPEED" the night before I was born.ENTERTAINMENT ROOTS:I come from an entertainment family. It's in my blood. Whether it be in pictures, acting, dancing, or music, I was born to entertain. My grandfather, Johnny "TEX" Texair was an amazing country singer and songwriter who wrote and released over 100 songs (over 300 remain unpublished). He is now inducted in the Classic Country Hall of Fame. My great-grandfather Conrado Conde, was an award-winning movie director for over 3 decades. His brother Gerry De Leon, was also an award winning, nominated director who directed over 65 films in his 40-year career. His daughter (my cousin) Liberty was an accomplished actress with over 40 films under her belt; another cousin Jay, was an award-winning actor who completed over 45 films before he died in a tragic motorcycle accident at the age of 39.My great-aunt Doyet was a child actress and singer under VICOR Records; both my great grandmother and grandfather on mom's side had established careers as radio personalities. So you guessed it.... Entertainment is in my blood.CAREER:At the age of 12, I got my break as one of the original members of the pop girl group, THE G-GIRLZ. In 2008, I met Joe Quaranto (ETNC) who became my music manager and mentor. When the G-Girlz broke up in early 2009, Joe took me under his wing as a solo artist and together, we set in motion a detailed plan for my career. Sadly, he had a sudden and massive heart attack and passed away later that year. In honor of Joe's memory and unfaltering faith in me, I became even more determined to see our plans through. A few months after he passed away, I completed my first book, "SOULSTICE: LUNA'S DREAM" which I co-authored with my new mentor (and Joe's partner), Lance Dow, who also wrote the screenplay for my upcoming film of the same title. Although the book was launched on a limited release, it received national rave reviews and ranked #1 on eBook.com for three weeks, beating BREAKING DAWN and THE LAST SONG. The Examiner's Nikki Tiani writes, "Keana adds her own genuine vocabulary and flair to the novel, creating a believable world for the reader." (Thank you Nikki!)In March of 2010, I released my first single, "Could You Be The One" under Warner Music Japan. The single became #1 its first day---stayed at #1 for several weeks, and eventually outranked international artists including Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Avril Lavigne, Ke$ha, even Justin Bieber. It was very a very humbling experience. A few weeks after the release of my single, I headlined my first concert in Shibuya, Japan with Omarion and Jason Derulo. I was invited to perform in the multi-billion D1 Grand Turismo Tokyo Drift Races in Tokyo and for the launch of the clothing line, Valentine's High . In May 2010 I released my 2nd single, "Need to Know", which quickly rose to #1 on the Japanese charts and iTunes; same with my 3rd single "Lucky Color", which climbed to #1 its first week. Two days before my Sweet 16 on September 22nd 2010, Warner Music released my debut album, STILL IN A DREAM. I visited Japan in October (my 4th trip in 6 months) and performed my first solo concert in Tokyo to a sold-out venue.MUSIC STYLE:I've always been an old soul. I love all styles and genres of music. As I've grown and changed over the last few years, my sound and choices in music have also evolved with me. One thing has always stayed true--my personal choices in music have always been reflective of my true personality. I am most happy when I can express the real KEANA: young, playful, sexy, maybe a teenie bit naughty, yearning to be an adult at times, but never EVER vulgar. I will give up my career before allowing myself to be manufactured into something that I'm not. One thing's for certain: I will never apologize for being me.WHAT'S IN STORE:I'm currently working on new original music with several award-winning, platinum producers and writers including Dimitri Ehrlich (multi-platinum songwriter for Weslife, MOBY), Herbie "Diamond" Crichlow (Back Street Boys), Leo Chantzaras, Steve Lee (Britney Spears), the multi-talented Wesley Avery, and Andrew Lane (who produced several songs on my first album). My single, "DANCE WITH YOU" debuted at #1 in Japan in September; my 2nd single "GOOD GIRL" also went #1 in November outranking Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and Mariah Carey. I am currently working on releasing my first single for the USA in 2012.I have several movies under the banner of my production company, TROUBLEMAKER FILMS currently in development with BONNIE KANNER (Shooting Star Entertainment) as one of my producing partners.I recently blogged as a teen ambassador for peta2.com (the younger division of PETA) to raise awareness for their NO-FUR campaign as animals have always been my passion. Many exciting things to come. Can't wait for you guys to hear!Follow me on Twitter: www.Twitter.com/KeanaTexeira
